HyMedPoly Project Poster at the Society for Biomaterials 2018 Annual Meeting
HyMedPoly PhD researcher Muhammad Maqbool attended the Society for Biomaterials 2018 Annual Meeting and Exposition, held April 11 – 14, 2018 in Atlanta, GA, USA. Mr. Maqbool is a PhD researcher at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Institute of Biomaterials, under academic supervision of Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, and seconded to Lucideon Limited, Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom.
The theme of this year SFB meeting, “Exploring the Nexus of Research and Application”, was a chance to discuss prospective biomaterials and their role in medical applications. SFB 2018 was a great overview of the state-of-art approaches in orthopaedic materials, tissue engineering, drug delivery, fabrication and 3-D printing of biomaterials, antimicrobial biomaterial, advances in bioactive calcium phosphates and bio-glasses, and materials for cardiovascular devices.
A poster presentation was given by Mr. Maqbool: “Investigations of crystallographic structure, antibacterial efficacy and bioactivity of hydroxyapatite co-substituted with selenium and strontium“. He said “The conference was an effective opportunity for the young and experienced researchers to come together and follow recent studies done all over the world.”
